A couple of weekends ago, I was in Manchester for my birthday and it just so happened to fall on the same weekend Oasis were touring. The whole city felt electric (literally), and I left totally inspired.

So I made this poster in honour of the tour, a lyric design based on “She’s Electric” A little tribute to a band that defined a generation.

The design is inspired by the clean, graphic lines of the Oasis x Adidas collaboration, mixed with my own love for Bauhaus-style typography and form.

I originally designed this graphic back in 2021 and it really resonated with my audience. At the time, we were just emerging from lockdown, craving freedom and balance.

This week, Grace Beverley spoke with Emma Grede on her podcast Working Hard, or Hardly Working, where they discussed work life balance and it brought this message back to mind.

One of the key takeaways from the episode was that success often requires real commitment and sacrifice. But as a designer, I’ve found that space to rest and reset is just as important. It’s often in those quieter moments that the best ideas take shape.

I recently listened to James Bay on A Diary of a CEO. It inspired this post, and I wanted to visualise how it’s important for creatives to stop.

Creatives have a lot of guilt sitting around but it’s imperative to stop and not do anything to clear the mind to allow for new ideas to arrive.

Go for a walk
Have a shower
Doodle
Look out the window
Go to a gallery
Read a book
Journal
Listen to a podcast

Just exist.. to be able to create. Stop looking at the clock and allow yourself time to be inspired.

NEW CHAPTER

Starting a new chapter is always scary. I have recently moved countries, which is always daunting with facing the fear of the unknown. I have also started a new course (which has kept me super busy!). I found myself feeling uninspired and unmotivated with design. The course has pushed me to experiment with techniques and softwares I am not used to, and has made me be more confident as a designer.

I’m excited to share with you what I have learnt and applying these techniques into my process with new clients.

NEW CHAPTER

I was so happy to be able to catch Gabrielle Chanel exhibition at the NGV in Melbourne before it finished. The exhibition charts the evolution of the famous Chanel style and showcased the spirit of freedom and defiance that characterised Chanel’s design language. The exhibit was so beautifully designed, and a must see!

I recently listened to an episode on The Diary of a CEO with Roman Kemp. He said “Luck is when preparation met opportunity.” This saying really resonated with me and inspired this post.

I truly believe the work and energy you put out into the universe attracts you the right opportunities. Here are a few new things I am practicing to grow myself and hopefully attract the opportunities I am seeking. Currently going through a lot of change, so trying to trust in timing and for everything to align.

Also as much as I try and work at a desk, I work best from the sofa! Something I don’t think will change anytime soon 😅

I have just finished reading ‘Not A Life Coach’ by James Smith. I am not usually into these kind of books, but honestly it was so inspiring and it has already made me adapt the way I approach my business and provides helpful tools. The book pushes your boundaries, unlocks your potential and helps you redefine your life. If you are like me, and love to learn and always looking for ways to grow yourself, then you have to give this one a read!

2022 GOALS

It’s taken me to the end of February to get into the swing of this year! I have not felt motivated and been faced with making big decisions within my personal life that has derailed my focus away from Studio B.

To get back on track, I listened to @_commonchaos most recent episode which touches on the importance of protecting your energy, goal setting and monitoring your goals regularly. They provided helpful tips, which inspired this post and putting together Studio B’s own goals.
